Hanakokeshi Nadeshiko Kokeshi

The elegantly coloured Hanakokeshi Nadeshiko (Dianthus, 19 cm high) doll was made in the workshop of master Gono. On her lilac kimono, the delicate blossoms of Dianthus fringed pink embody the historic Japanese feminine ideal. This flower is a symbol of a woman who is gentle in her manner and expression, pretty and kind, yet able to stand up to men when necessary.
